Membership Fees
LLI membership is required each term to register for courses and participate in free lectures, webinars, and other member events. Term membership is $60 and is non-refundable. An annual membership option is available through August 14 at a discounted rate.

Program Fees
Course and event fees vary and are listed with each offering. To receive a refund of a course fee, members must cancel their enrollment at least one week before the first class session. Fees for cancellations received after that time are generally non-refundable.

Adding a Course
If you are already registered for the term and would like to add another course, please contact CPE Registration at 540-231-5182 or cpeinfo@vt.edu for assistance. Courses may be added if space is available.

Dropping a Course or Event
If you need to withdraw from a course before it begins or cancel your registration for an event, please notify CPE Registration at 540-231-5182 or cpeinfo@vt.edu as soon as possible.

Waitlists
If a course or event is full, please join the waitlist. We are often able to accommodate additional participants by expanding enrollment or moving to a larger space. If an opening becomes available, waitlisted members will be contacted and given 48 hours to either register for the program or remove themselves from the waitlist.

Schedule Changes and Cancellations
Email is our primary method of communication. Please check your email regularly for updates regarding schedule changes, class reminders, and last-minute cancellations. Class Assistants or Instructors will notify enrolled members of any cancellations or changes.

Accommodations
LLI is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive learning environment. To request accommodations for a disability or discuss accessibility needs, please contact the LLI Program Coordinator at lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725 at least 14 days before the start of a course or event.

Guests and Course Access
LLI courses and events are intended for registered LLI members and official partner organizations. Participants may not share Zoom links, course materials, or event access information with individuals who are not registered for the program.

Inclement Weather Policy

  • Zoom classes: Classes offered virtually will continue as scheduled during inclement weather unless enrolled members receive a specific cancellation notice from the Zoom Class Assistant or instructor.
  • In-person classes: Members will be notified if a class is canceled due to inclement weather. In general, cancellations will follow Virginia Tech campus closure guidance.
  • Rescheduling: Decisions about rescheduling canceled classes will depend on instructor availability and venue schedules.

Code of Conduct
As members of the Virginia Tech community, participants in LLI are expected to treat fellow members, instructors, volunteers, and Virginia Tech Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) staff with civility, kindness, and respect. Thoughtful disagreement and informed debate are valued as part of the learning experience, but members should contribute constructively and allow others the opportunity to participate.

Demeaning, disrespectful, offensive, intimidating, threatening, abusive, or otherwise disruptive behavior toward fellow members, instructors, volunteers, or staff will not be tolerated, whether it occurs in person, by telephone, by email, or through other forms of communication. Such conduct may result in suspension or dismissal from the program at the discretion of LLI leadership and CPE staff.

Fee Waivers
LLI is committed to providing accessible and affordable educational opportunities for New River Valley residents. Confidential requests for fee waivers may be directed to the LLI Program Coordinator at lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725.
