Class Assistants
Each class will be assigned a classroom assistant, identified after registration has begun. The classroom assistant's role is to support instructors however they can, typically helping with material distribution, room set-up, communications, and class administration. Contact Bev Walters (bfwalters@gmail.com) or Jerry Niles (jerryniles@comcast.net) for questions about class assistants.
Course consultants
Instructors may request to be paired with a course consultant, an experienced LLI instructor with whom they can discuss their plans for the course and reflect on day-to-day teaching. This relationship is entirely voluntary, with instructors and consultants setting their own meeting frequency and agendas. To arrange for a course consultant, contact Jerry Niles (jerryniles@comcast.net).
Complimentary LLI Membership
Instructors of courses 3 weeks or longer are invited to take advantage of a free one-term LLI membership as a thank you for their commitment to teach. Instructions for accessing this free membership will be emailed prior to the start of the term. Contact Sally Blanchard (lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725) with any questions.
Copying
Although we encourage instructors to share class materials electronically, we can supply up to 25 black and white copies or 10 color copies per student, if needed. Please allow one week’s lead time to fill your request. All copying requests must comply with copyright laws. Contact Sally Blanchard (lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725) for copies.
Reimbursement
Instructors incurring costs for program materials may request reimbursement for approved expenses. Material costs must be specified on the proposal form and approved by the program committee in advance. Virginia Tech fiscal policies require that original receipts be submitted within 30 days of purchase for reimbursement. Contact Sally Blanchard (lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725) to request reimbursement.
Technology
Continuing and Professional Education provides technology support to LLI instructors teaching at the CRC in the Curiosity or Concept rooms. CPE will provide a laptop, and connect that laptop to projection and audio equipment. Laptops will be equipped to run PowerPoint presentations and connect to the internet for video streaming. CPE may also assist instructors in Zoom classes. If you would like to visit your classroom prior to your first class, contact Sally Blanchard (lifelonglearning@vt.edu or 540-231-1725) .
