About Blacksburg

Virginia Tech’s main campus is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, which is a vibrant town nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, offering a rich tapestry of outdoor adventures and Appalachian culture. The town's proximity to the Appalachian Trail provides access to some of the most scenic in the region, including the renowned McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. The New River, one of the world's oldest rivers, meanders through the area, offering opportunities for tubing, kayaking, and fishing, with local outfitters. Beyond its natural beauty, Blacksburg is a hub for Appalachian culture.
